A week in London

One more stop on our journey! One May 31, 2022 we zipped over to Oslo Airport and caught a Ryannair flight to Stanstead Airport. From there we went by train to a 2 bedroom flat in Putney that was waiting for us thanks to our hosts and the help of homeexchange.com. “Conveniently” located next to the Putney underground stop we darted into central London most days, and tried to ignore the clacketly clack of trains most nights.

By coincidence we were in London for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. It was nice to see the old city dressed up in full regalia. On the other hand the crowds were so large it made moving around the city a bit of a challenge at times. Activities included a walking tour of London, a bus tour, visits to the British Museum and the National Gallery, a visit to the Churchill War Rooms, an evening mass at Westminster Abbey, walks through Camden Market and Covent Garden, and a live show, Hamilton.

London was amazing! We enjoyed Putney and area and watched a lot of the Crown. After a looooong journey, on June 9th we departed for Toronto via Gatwick. We overnighted in Toronto and returned to PEI on the 10th. That’s it!!! Our trip is now over. This journey was an experience of a lifetime for all of us. We made some great memories and it will be years before our boys will be able to fully unpack all they saw and experienced these past four months. To them we say you are welcome! To you we say thanks for following along.
